On September 9, 2022, the foundation of the association "Swiss Medical Oath" took place in Praz at the lake of Murten. At the founding event, all former Oath Commission members of the Institute Dialogue Ethics participated and a part of this commission now also forms the founding board of the new association. With this foundation, the Swiss Medical Oath has now become completely independent of any institutions and societies. However, for the time being, the office of the association remains the office of FMCH, which as an umbrella organization is also committed to the Swiss Medical Oath. As soon as the financial situation allows it (sufficient active and patron members and donors), the association will establish its own office. Until then, the founding board of the association would like to thank the responsible persons and the office of the FMCH, who are currently still helping out.
The founding board would also like to thank the Institute Dialog Ethik sincerely, not only for the idea for this new Oath, but also for the work done for years, support as well as management of the Oath web(sub)page on its own website, which is hereby dissolved!
Immediately after the meeting, the new board members Audrey Kovatsch, Sofia Asikainen, Simon Maurer and Orlando Hürlimann were also ceremoniously sworn in!
May the oath movement be successful and help to strengthen the medical ethos again and to stop the increasing economization of medicine!
