During a ceremony in the Basilica de Valère in Sion - under the patronage of S. EM Cardinal Peter Kodwo Applah Turkson, Chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and Mrs. Marija Pejcinovic Buric, Secretary General of the Council of Europe - the Forum Engelberg and the Pontifical Academy of Sciences did award the Prize for Medicine and Ethics 2023 to Prof. Bernhard Egger, M.D. on October 6, 2023 within the interdisciplinary conference Laudato Si' 2023.
During the laudation, Prof. Klaus Mann, M.D., Full Professor em and Director em of the Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetology and Metabolism, University Hospital Essen, Germany, explains that this prize is awarded to Prof. B. Egger for his merits as a surgeon and his activities around the Swiss Medical Oath.
